From Universal to Walt Disney World review

Just arrived from a week's vacation that began at Universal and ended at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

It had been quite a while since we had visited Universal. We are often hesitant to try rides that turn  upside down or simulate spins so it pretty much leaves us out of most.

However, I am a Harry Potter nerd and for any like me out there; you feel the calling.  I enjoyed imagining myself in London when walking through Diagon Alley.
The Hogwarts Express train itself was amazing. The train ride, was okay. They could have taken it to a higher level than what they did. However, I loved the whole experience and would return.

Highly recommend the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium at Citywalk. Its not just great chocolate but they also have a steam punk vibe.  The front part of the restaurant is just for dessert, so if you are on a budget, you can still enjoy it. The restaurant is further back.  With dessert names, like confetti and red velvet, it was worth every calorie.

I was planning to stay at the Cabana Bay which was the most budget friendly.  However, I found a travel agent that found a better deal.  We stayed at the Lowes Royal Pacific resort. It was a first time for me there, and I have to say it was impressive.   The folks were so friendly. We did not meet one sour puss.

The  last few days we spent at the Boardwalk.  This had been a dream of mine for many years.

We have already cut down on the times we go to WDW. What with the unmanageable crowds and less magic; We are no longer annual passholders.

The garden view room blew me away, though. Its not just a garden view but a water view as well.

The boardwalk vibe is charming. The gallery is my favorite. The staff was over all very friendly, except the ones that work in the morning that sell coffee, etc. Not so much there, and the morning is when you most need some TLC.

Magic Kingdom still has the Disney magic, so its always fuller than the rest of the parks, if you can imagine that.   I still feel that warm fuzzy feeling for MK.  Epcot, which used to symbolize  hope and a beautiful future for me, not so much.  Its now  more like Pinocchio's Treasure Island. You can smell the booze in the air. However, I do look forward to the flower and garden show every year. It looks awesome.

The resort has became the destination.  Having said that, I will always love Disney and over all it was great fun.  However, I am cruising more and more lately instead of going to WDW.
